Johnny Cash.

Johnny Cash was the greatest country music artist of all time. (according to several Google searches and my personal opinion) I have been a huge Johnny Cash fan since I was a little kid. I grew up listening to Johnny Cash as did my parents. Instead of all that trash them kids listen to these days, I listened to Mr. Cash. He is known for his deep, powerful voice that is often compared to a freight train.

Some of Johns most famous songs are: Ring of Fire, Man in Black, Folsom Prison Blues, and Walk the Line. My favorite Cash songs besides those are: Gods Gonna Cut You Down, Hurt, and A Boy Named Sue. I cannot stress enough how amazing Johnny Cash is and how much you need to go listen to some of his songs. Ill probably put some links at the bottom to make it easier for you to go see his greatness for yourself.

Johnny was born February 26, 1932 and he died September 12, 2003. Cash has been inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Country Music Hall of Fame, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Three Halls of Fames, that’s pretty intense. There is also a movie about Mr. Cash, its called Walk The Line. I’ve seen it a bunch of times and its great. There was also a movie made that kinda makes fun of it, called Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. I’m not sure if that’s the exact title but its something like that. Walk Hard has John C. Riley in it and its really funny!

All through his life Johnny Cash battled drug addiction. Many of his songs are about that but there not like the songs today about drugs. His drug songs are more somber and sad and everything, Johnny didn’t think he was a gangster because he did drugs, like artists today do. That’s another thing about songs these days! There all about drugs and sex and how cool you are if you participate in those activities.

Living A Lie

Today I discovered that for the last 16 years of my life I have been living a lie. I have always thought that my first name is Coy. Most people find this to be a very odd name. People like to try and make fun of my name and how weird my parents must be to name me that. I’ve lived through 16 years of fish jokes. Many people have asked why I have such an odd name; I think my parents told me that they saw some guy at a rodeo named Coy. They thought, “Hey! We should name our kid that!” So I was the next one they popped out and got stuck with the name.

 Recently I was playing Xbox with Caleb Hoskins and NicK (spelt with a k and not an h) Lindsay; Caleb made the discovery that “Christopher” seems to sound more natural. I agreed with him that Christopher sounded better, so I went and asked my parents if Coy was just a nickname or something. Mrs. Kelly said, “Oh coy boy, I always knew you would find out someday.” Now Mr. Kelly came in and said, “We thought it would be funny to give you a stupid name and see how weird you turned out.”

I was in disbelief that my parents would do such a thing to their favorite child, so I went and searched for my birth certificate. Once I found it I realized that the horrible story they were telling me is true. The birth certificate read “Christopher Coy Kelly” I was always told my middle name was Steven but apparently that was a lie too.

This is a true story and I ask that everyone start addressing me by my real name instead of this atrocity my parents gave me. I am done living this lie and its time I start my new life as Christopher.

Class Sizes

I read an article on the Time website about how bigger class sizes would be better financially. They say that if classes were bigger it wouldn’t have an impact on the kids, as long as there are good teachers. I think this is kind of dumb because I really hate big classes. Smaller classes are great because there are less kids to act stupid. With less stupid kids the teacher can better control the class and everyone has a better time in that class. I’m sure teachers enjoy having smaller classes too. Its easier to learn when there are fewer kids. Even if there aren’t any obnoxious people in a class it would still take longer for everyone to understand what’s going on, so the class would still struggle.

In large classes there are so many people that it is difficult to get individual help so you can understand what’s going on. In small classes there is more time for everyone to get individual help if they need it and the teacher can get around to helping everyone individually. This would boost grades because everyone would do better with more one on one help. The solution to money problems isn’t to have bigger classes and cut down on teachers. They should have smaller classes which would help kids get better grades, and then they will get more money because of all the good grades.

The article was from some big city and the school they were talking about had lots of kids. For a bigger school it might not work to have small classes because there are so many kids. Mason City High School should have smaller classes and I’m sure peoples grades would improve. We need smaller classes with more individual help from teachers so we can better grasp what they are trying to teach us.

Bags During School

I wrote my 3^rd essay just now and it was about how we can’t have bags in school! So that’s what I’m blogging about as well. I think its pretty dumb that we don’t get to carry bags around anymore. We shouldn’t have got the privilege taken away in the first place. I understand that if someone is going to bring a weapon to school that they could put it in a backpack. They could still successfully get it into the school with a backpack and leave that backpack in their locker. And I’m sure if someone was really determined to shoot up the school they wouldn’t be stopped by not having a bag to put their gun in.

Back when bags were allowed last year I always had the stuff I needed for class. I would hardly ever stop at my locker and I didn’t ever have to leave class to get my stuff. Because I didn’t have to go to my locker I wouldn’t be late for classes either. This year I only carry my materials for one class at a time, so I stop at my locker in-between every period. I usually talk to people during passing time to. I could probably just not talk to people and be on time but that’s no fun. It would benefit kids and teachers if we got bags back because us kids wouldn’t be late so we wouldn’t get tardies. And the teachers wouldn’t have to give us obnoxious kids as many detentions from tardies.

I think its pretty dumb that the whole school lost the privilege to carry bags because one person was stupid. Whoever that person was should go say sorry to the school people and tell them that they promise not to bring guns to school so everyone else can get their backpacks back.

Procrastination/Follies/bieber

Its 10:15 on Sunday night and I’m just starting my homework. I don’t know why I procrastinate so much, its not like I do anything all weekend. For some reason I always wait until Sunday night to do my homework. I could have easily gotten this done at some point this weekend. I could have done it instead of playing Xbox all day or sleeping until 1 o’clock. Luckily all I have to do is this blog and then I’m done.

Today instead of doing my homework I went to the Follies. They were pretty awesome. My favorite part of the Follies was when the justin bieber song was Rick Rolled. Urban Dictionary defines Rick Rolled as “Deceiving a person or people to somehow watch, or see the "Never Gonna Give You Up" video by Rick Astley. Rick Rolling can also be a real life act of the music clip - normally by playing the song and having an impostor sing or dance to the video. Thus "Rick Rolling" the unsuspecting audience.”

Notice how I didn’t capitalize justin biebers name up in that paragraph. That was intentional. I don’t think it deserves to have its name capitalized. He/She/It doesn’t even deserve a name. It should just be some nameless creature that is looked down upon by everyone. I don’t just hate justin because of her high pitched, annoying voice. I also dislike her because she made a stupid movie. I have not and do not plan on seeing its movie. I don’t have to see it to know its stupid, it just is. Do not waste your money in seeing it, you will regret it. By staring at that girlish face for two hours the majority of your brain cells will die. One two three four five six seven eight more words.

Skiing

This weekend I went cross country skiing at the lime creek nature center. My mom, dad, sister, my sisters friend, this other weird girl, and I all went. It was the first time that any of us had ever skied(?) before. We were all pretty terrible at it and fell down a lot. They had a bunch of skis and poles for people to use at the nature center but there was a ton of people there so we had to wait a long time for our turn. While we waited we looked at all the cool stuff out there. We looked at all the stuffed dead critters and the birdies outside and all the cool nature junk. After that we drank some hot coco and made sugar cube houses.

There were also snow shoes that you could use but those didn’t look as fun so we didn’t try them. Once we got out there and had our skis on and what not they showed us how to ski. You just slide your feet and push with the ski poles. It took some time to get used to and we fell a lot. I would maybe like to try skiing down a hill or something next time because cross country skiing across the flat ground is kind of boring.

Once we were finished skiing we were all tired so we went and cooked some hot dogs and marshmallows over a fire. We sat around and looked at all the cool nature stuff some more. Before we left they had a door prize thingy. When we came in we had to write our name down and they put all the names in a hat and drew for prizes. Me and my mom both won a prize! She got some sunglasses that were pretty sweet and I got this awesome little bird that you squeeze and it makes a bird chirp noise.

Technology

I just wrote my essay for composition about technology so thats what im gonna blog about as well! In all of our articles we blame technology for making us lazy. They say that instead of doing our homework we go on the internet and facebook and stuff. Thats probably true but even if we didnt have the internet we would find something else to distract us from doing our schoolwork. The part of these articles that i found most interesting is the part about how we let clocks controll our lives. We let clocks tell us when to eat and sleep and go to bed and everything else. We have stopped listening to our senses and rely on the clock. I figure thats why america is so fat, because the clock says we have to eat 3 meals a day at the same time. If the clock didnt tell us this then we would only eat when our body tell us its hungry. So if we only eat when were hungry we wouldnt be fattys! So the obvious solution is to get rid of clocks and rely on our senses for everything we do.



I love technology. It gives me video games. I love video games. I own a xbox 360 and I play it all the time! actually I havent played much recently because I have no good games. I am sick and tired of 1st person shooters like call of duty and halo. I prefer the rpg type games like the fable series and the fallout series and dragon age and borderlands and those types of games which are much awesomerer than boring old 1st person shooters like cod. I am at 281 words and im pretty sure we need 300 and im kinda bad at these blogs because I never know what I should write about! Technology is a good thing to write about though. Because technology is fun. I am at my word requirment now so I think its time to wrap up this blog. Bye bye!
